  10th Annual Homelessness Marathon

  

  This year, CKUW will join other campus and community radio stations as they broadcast the 10th annual Homelessness Marathon. Syndicated live from the streets of Montreal, and several other locations across Canada, the Homelessness Marathon airs Wednesday, February 22nd, starting at sunset and running all night long until sunrise on Thursday, February 23rd.

  Broadcast Schedule

  Please note that all times are Eastern Standard Time

  • Hour 1 (5-6pm) Introduction to the marathon

  • Hour 2 (6-7pm) Decolonization, aboriginals and housing issues

  • Hour 3 (7-8pm) Gender, housing, and homelessness

  • Hour 4 (8-9pm) CKDU Halifax hosts live from outside St-Matthews United Church
    Gentrification and poverty in the North End of Halifax, Occupy Halifax and homelessness

  • Hour 5 (9-10pm) Migration and access to housing

  • Hour 6 (10-11pm) Families, youth and Homelessness/Housing on reservations

  • Hour 7 (11pm – 12am) Health on the streets

  • Hour 12 (4-5am) The Law and the streets / Police repression

  • Hour 13 (5-6am) Gentrification and the City – examples from Toronto, Montreal, and Quebec City

  • Hour 14 (6-7am) Criminalization of poverty and alternatives to the prison system/Conclusion
