Monday: “Festival Overview”:
We’ll give an overview of the radio series, festival & it’s workshops. We’ll interview the director the rap documentary “Freestyle”. The film will be shown Monday night at the U of W. Workshop Facilitator, Bobs of the Winnipeg based BBoy crew, Dangerous Goods will level with us about the life of a Bboy as a preview of his Tuesday workshop and Tuesday night showing of the film “Planet Bboy”.
- Tuesday: “Hip-Hop As Resistance”
An interview with one of Palestine’s biggest rap groups, DAM. We also hear from Winnipeg Hip Hop veterans Wab & Freestyle 3 facilitator/organizer Pip Skid. They comment of community activism, their art and the power of relaying hip hop culture to the youth. We end the show with a preview of the DJing & beat workshops by DJ Kutdown.
- Wednesday: A Woman’s Voice In Hip Hop
Hip Hop is dominated by the male voice. Why is this? Why is it so difficult for woman to be heard? What are the stories of trying to make it in this male dominated industry? This episode gets you geared up for the Wednesday night screening of “Say My Name”. We interview Winnipeg’s Fenom & U of W Women’s Study’s, Prof Rowen Crowe. Plus we’ll hear from the kids of Freestyle 3 for the first time.
- Thursday: Graffiti Gallery Showcase aka Painting on the Walls With Legends
For 11 years the Graf Gallery has been serving the people of Winnipeg. It houses art shows, workshops in the visual arts, rap, drumming, djing and dancing for variety of ages. Pat Lazo and others walk us through the Winnipeg Institution. We will also be airing portions of a panel discussion that took place at the Graf Gallery between Graf legends, Erni Vales, Cey Adams & mediator John Smith.
- Friday: Freestyle 3: The Class of ’09
We interview workshop facilitators, kids and reps about their impressions of the program. We premier trax off the kids finished CDs and invite you the audience to their grand finale show at the Bullman Centre that night @ 7pm.
