As a young man who listens to almost everything, I couldn’t have one specific type of jazz for my show. Tune in for an array of music, from Duke Ellington to Jaco Pastorius, Miles Davis and Sex Mob, and everything outside and in. Just A Jazz Thing is an exploration of the wonderful world of jazz.
From Dave Douglas to the Art Ensemble of Chicago to Nguyen Le to Charlie Hunter to members of the Jazz Composers’ Collective to Bill Frisell to David Binney to NOJO, and from E.S.T. to Dave Holland to Sam Rivers, whichever way the muse leads (or whatever the post office delivers).
Mainly contemporary jazz from North America and around the world with a “historical” segment each week. A blend of melodic and experimental music from the wide definition that describes modern jazz.
