By Olivia Norquay<\/strong><\/p>\n Krimewatch is the toughest band I\u2019ve ever heard. The New York band\u2019s 2016 <\/span>Demo<\/span><\/i>, released on vinyl by Lockin\u2019 Out records, sits at under five minutes and incorporates fast, heavy hardcore punk with some thrashy elements (a.k.a. divebombs). I don\u2019t usually care that much about new releases, but the new(ish) <\/span>Demo <\/span><\/i>manages to be reminiscent of early East Coast hardcore while still maintaining a contemporary and accessible sound. Sonically, Krimewatch inhabits the space between Boston\u2019s Dame and Toronto\u2019s Triage.<\/span><\/p>\n Featuring bassist Emma Hendry (Hotheads), guitarist Sean Joyce (Ajax), drummer Shayne Benz, and commanding vocals by Rhylli – in both Japanese and English – the band\u2019s five song demo begins with the fast and riffy \u201c\u5c0f\u4fbf \u305f\u308c\u201d and builds into the heavy and relentless \u201cPeach Generation\u201d. \u00a0\u201cCoward\u201d is an eviscerating forty-nine seconds. \u201c\u30b4\u30ad\u30d6\u30ea\u7537\u201d and \u201cNo Sympathy\u201d are both comparable to Bad Brains with Rhylli\u2019s searing vocals and ruthless drumming from Benz. <\/span>Demo <\/span><\/i>is scary and cool and makes me feel indestructible.<\/span><\/p>\n
