{"id":11596,"date":"2019-11-14T14:12:30","date_gmt":"2019-11-14T20:12:30","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/?p=11596"},"modified":"2026-05-06T15:17:47","modified_gmt":"2026-05-06T20:17:47","slug":"album-review-micah-erenberg-love-is-gonna-find-you-album","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/2019\/11\/14\/album-review-micah-erenberg-love-is-gonna-find-you-album\/","title":{"rendered":"Album Review :: Micah Erenberg :: Love Is Gonna Find You Album"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1200\" height=\"1200\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1.jpg?fit=525%2C525&amp;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-11598\" srcset=\"https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1.jpg 1200w, https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1-150x150.jpg 150w, https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1-300x300.jpg 300w, https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1-768x768.jpg 768w, https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1-1024x1024.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/11\/micahreview-1-100x100.jpg 100w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 1200px) 100vw, 1200px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>by Jesse Popeski<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Micah Erenberg\u2019s sophomore album\u00a0<em>Love Is Gonna Find You\u00a0<\/em>is the songwriter\u2019s most confessional album to date, as he searches for optimism amidst the uncertainties of life.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cLiving a life of regret \/ Wish I were without this crippling doubt,\u201d he sings in\u00a0&#8220;Just Who I Am,<em>&#8220;<\/em>\u00a0perhaps the most autobiographical song on the album.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Self-doubt permeates many songs on the album, but something about the buoyancy of the music, the honest, worn-out quality of Erenberg\u2019s voice, and the self-deprecating humour of his lyrics prevent the album from ever being a downer.\u00a0\u00a0Micah Erenberg\u2019s brand of dealing with despair is pretty fun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Musically the album has many modes, always enhancing the meaning of the lyrics.\u00a0\u00a0The album opens with the lush folk rock of \u201cDo It For Love,\u201d with a wall of sound about as epic as it gets without being over the top.\u00a0\u00a0On the opposite side of the arranging spectrum, the sparseness of the folky \u201cBored\u201d and the piano ballad \u201cLove Is Gonna Find You\u201d match the earnestness of the songs.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cSomewhere Beyond The Ocean\u201d and \u201cSunspill\u201d explore yet another facet of Erenberg\u2019s creativity, with noisy distortion and ambiance.\u00a0\u00a0The most successful marriage of music and lyrics on the album is the second track, \u201cWhat Am I Doing Here,\u201d another autobiographical song about life as a touring musician (\u201cthey call me a lucky man \/ but I don\u2019t see my friends or family\u201d), set to the tune of an electronic drum loop with an energetic acoustic guitar solo;
