Northcote\u2019s style reminds me of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=OLJ48osG7wY\" target=\"_blank\">Chuck Ragan<\/a> deep into a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=eoDDnOUKDQI\" target=\"_blank\">Tom Cochrane <\/a>trip, and this is a good thing. Lyrically, the album deals with the staples of the emerging punk turned roots rocker genre: finding oneself, the triumphs and failures of living for the next show, hard traveling, and maybe a broken heart here and there. Northcote takes these themes on with dexterity. I keep finding new gems with each spin of the disc. Highlights for me include \u201cUnder the Streetlights\u201d \u2013 complete with sensual sax solo \u2013 \u201cThe Beat,\u201d and the prairie anthem \u201cTake the Ride.\u201d \u201cNot a Home\u201d is also a great little number, if you\u2019re into melancholy; perfect for a dark winter morning. If you\u2019re into bearded troubadours who wear their hearts on their sleeves, check this guy out. He\u2019s the real deal.
