(I can\u2019t tell which category These Estates fall into, as they effectively blur the line between the two camps on these two offerings.) <a href=\"http:\/\/theseestates.bandcamp.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">\u201cSoiled Hands<\/a>\u201d reminds me of a cross between the angrier output of Winnipeg\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=RVKDEg5siN4\" target=\"_blank\">Painted Thin<\/a> and the less straight-forward hardcore of Langley\u2019s <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=mOsDNLL4jNk\" target=\"_blank\">Manner Farm<\/a>, with vocals and guitars bursting with barely controlled rage. \u201cAutumn in a Foreign Country\u201d is more subdued, reminding me of another Winnipeg indie act of the late 90s, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=MDhUJCNHMz8\" target=\"_blank\">the Bonaduces<\/a>. The vocals and lyrics both steer into that poetic-pop sound that the Bonaduces did so well, and These Estates pull off quite nicely. I\u2019m keen to hear more.
