{"id":5557,"date":"2012-10-16T10:35:40","date_gmt":"2012-10-16T16:35:40","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/stylusmagazine.ca\/?p=5557"},"modified":"2012-10-16T10:35:40","modified_gmt":"2012-10-16T16:35:40","slug":"the-be-good-tanyas-a-collection","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/ckuw.ca\/stylus\/2012\/10\/16\/the-be-good-tanyas-a-collection\/","title":{"rendered":"The Be Good Tanyas &#8211; A Collection"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a rel=\"attachment wp-att-5558\" href=\"http:\/\/stylusmagazine.ca\/2012\/10\/16\/the-be-good-tanyas-a-collection\/tanyas\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-5558\" title=\"tanyas\" src=\"http:\/\/stylusmagazine.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/tanyas-300x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"300\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>This  new career spanning collection from Vancouver\u2019s The Be Good Tanyas is a  nice overview of the ladies\u2019 work from 2000 through 2006, and also  includes four previously unreleased tunes for the diehard fans.<!--more--> Included  are beauty originals like \u201cDraft Daughter\u2019s Blues,\u201d \u201cLittle Black  Bear,\u201d and \u201cJunkie Song,\u201d as well as tasteful covers of Townes Van  Zandt\u2019s classic \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=-0SmXVrLlZ4\" target=\"_blank\">Waiting Around to Die<\/a>,\u201d Neil Young\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=oCyk5JWM3B0\" target=\"_blank\">For the  Turnstiles<\/a>\u201d and Geoff Berner\u2019s \u201cLight Enough to Travel.\u201d A couple  traditionals &#8211; \u201cIn My Time of Dying\u201d and \u201cOh Susanna\u201d &#8211; get the Tanya  touch, the latter much more favourably than Neil &amp; Crazy Horses\u2019  most recent arrangement. For folks who aren\u2019t familiar with the Tanyas,  or for casual listeners who don\u2019t have the band\u2019s three classic albums,  this is a good disc to pick up. For long time listeners, though, there\u2019s  not much point; the unreleased tracks are likely not worth the dollars.
