There is a right way and a wrong way to write a deeply personal song about deeply private things, like marriage, babies, and death. Done correctly, the listener has a personal and possibly profound reaction that relates to their own life and forms a bond between them and the song. Martha Wainwright has that gift and has never been afraid of baring her soul, putting her heart on her sleeve, or flat out telling the real story, warts and all. Because life is messy and you can\u2019t hide from it, so you might as well take what you can from each moment. This \u201clive for the moment amid chaos\u201d is exemplified in the opening line of \u201cCan You Believe It;\u201d \u201cI really like the makeup sex, it\u2019s the only kind I ever get.\u201d We\u2019re all thinking the same thing, \u201cbeen there!\u201d It\u2019s also terribly catchy.<em> Come Home To Mama<\/em> has a pleasantly subtle electronic pop sound that works well with Wainwright\u2019s style and sense of melody. It\u2019s a mighty fine folk pop album with a nice sheen to it.
