Get out &amp; party!<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, March 28, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Out of the woods and into the WECC!<\/p>\n<p>Red Moon Road has returned to civilization from their recording session in a remote log cabin and will release the aptly titled <em>Tales From The Whiteshell<\/em>, Thursday March 28<sup>th<\/sup>\u00a0in fully accessible West End Cultural Centre (586 Ellice Ave at Sherbrook).\u00a0\u00a0The all-star trio\u2019s music is a blend of roots and bluegrass, their songs are inspired by the natural beauty of Manitoba, and they sing wonderfully together.<\/p>\n<p>The night begins with a songwriter\u2019s circle featuring four of Red Moon Road\u2019s favourite artists:\u00a0\u00a0Don Amero, JD Edwards, Beth Hamilton, and Sol James.<\/p>\n<p><em>Doors open at 7:15pm and the show begins at 8:00. &#8211;<\/em>\u00a0<strong>BT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, March 30, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Story Songs from Smalltown, Manitoba<\/p>\n<p>Rob Waddell is about as folkie as one can be. He was raised without television in a small town where everyone knows everyone, has a warm, soothing voice, and performs solo.\u00a0\u00a0However, his new album features a full band, and so will Saturday\u2019s release party at the Park Theatre (698 Osborne St) for <em>Everything is From Now On.<\/em> \u00a0A special treat given that friends coerced him into it, the original plan being a solo show.<\/p>\n<p>Another treat is opener Lindsay Jane, a fine singer-songwriter in her right.<\/p>\n<p><em>Doors open at 7:15pm and the shows goes on at 8:00.\u00a0<\/em><strong>-BT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The time has come to take off those winter boots and put on your dancing shoes.<\/p>\n<p>Edmonton\u2019s electronic\/dance\/punk outfit <a href=\"http:\/\/www.shoutoutoutoutout.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Shout Out Out Out Out <\/a>are playing the Pyramid this Saturday with Dear Rouge and Hana LuLu, but I\u2019m most excited to see <a href=\"http:\/\/wovenrecords.com\/artists\/vikings\/\" target=\"_blank\">local electro-pop trio Vikings<\/a> do their thing. <a href=\"http:\/\/wovenrecords.com\/artists\/vikings\/\"><br \/>\n<\/a><\/p>\n<p>I got my hands on some of Vikings yet-to-be-released recordings earlier this month, and if their live show is as impressive as their energetic style of sonic majesty, then don\u2019t be surprised if they outshine the headliners.<\/p>\n<p><i>Advance tickets are $8 at Kustom Kulture and Into The Music.\u00a0<\/i><strong>-MD<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This weekend get yourselves ready for the debut of Lonewolfe. Helping Lonewolfe with their debut will be <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/therevivalstyle\">The Revival<\/a>, a mixture of classic rock\u2019n\u2019roll with dance and psychedelia, as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/knhmusic?fref=ts\">Kids &amp; Heroes<\/a>, American styled pop punk rockers, and last but not least <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/rocknrollmusique\">Les Sexy<\/a>, the francophonie punk group described as \u201ca grittier, dirtier band than yours.\u201d Don\u2019t miss this fantastic evening of every kind of punk and rock\u2019n\u2019roll you could ask for.<\/p>\n<p><i>Takes place at The Windsor Hotel (187 Garry Street). Tickets are only $8 (which is a measly $2 per band), and gets underway at 10pm. <\/i><b>-SD<\/b><\/p>\n<p><strong>Monday, April 1, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This ain&#8217;t no April Fools joke, you sons of guns. NGTV SPC is playing host to a punk as fuck evening of raging Easter Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Local openers Salt Lick and <a href=\"http:\/\/stylusmagazine.ca\/2011\/12\/02\/breath-grenades-25-years-of-blowing-minds-and-bewildering-audiences\/\" target=\"_blank\">Breath Grenades<\/a> get things going at &#8220;7pm sharp&#8221; (according to the posters plastered around town), so be sure to get to the back door early, ear protection firmly in place.<\/p>\n<p>Next up is Vancouver&#8217;s Systematik, a punishing band with a new LP on Deranged Records, and featuring my old buddy Todd, who has been grinding away in awesome punk bands for the last ten years.<\/p>\n<p>Top of the list, though, is <a href=\"http:\/\/therealjasonschreurs.wordpress.com\/2013\/03\/25\/current-obsessioncant-stop-listening-white-lung-vancouver-bc-riot-grrl-resurgence\/\" target=\"_blank\">White Lung<\/a>, who are exploding right now. They were all over SXSW a couple weeks back, and their star is just beginning to rise. Heavy as fuck, too. This show is going to be awesome.<\/p>\n<p><em>Show starts at 7pm &#8220;sharp&#8221; at NGTV SPC. Cost is 7 bucks, as far as I can tell.
