Weekenders!<!--more--><\/em><\/p>\n<p><strong>Thursday, June 13, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>So summer has begun to slowly embrace Winnipeg, which means only one thing\u2026 <a href=\"http:\/\/jazzwinnipeg.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jazz Fest<\/a> is coming to Winnipeg. \u00a0The scene; a mangled cube like stage, backpacks abound and an expansive patio stretching around Old Market Square. Check out the free bands in the square from 7-pm till midnight, highlighted by the\u00a0<b>Keith Price Double Quartet<\/b>\u00a0and the always danceable\u00a0<b>Dirty Catfish Brass<\/b>\u00a0Band, with their localized version of the New Orleans brass sound. If you aren\u2019t into outdoor jazz, check out the\u00a0<b>Hoots<\/b>\u00a0at the Windsor for their usual Draft Night as well.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Friday, June 14, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Jazz Fest continues on Friday evening in the park, with a Latin themed evening going from 6pm until 1am, graced by local act Trio Bembe. Once again, if a Latin infused dance party isn\u2019t your ball game, check out gloom rock outfit\u00a0<b>Naysa<\/b>, playing for free at Joe Black\u2019s Coffee Bar in St James. Look for them to play two forty five minutes, including covers from Weezer and Nirvana. In closing, the undercard of the night seems to be the White Stripes tribute evening at the Cavern; go forth and enjoy your 90\u2019s blue rock apparently.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Saturday, June 15, 2013<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Highlighting the weekend is the Saturday night line up at Jazz Festival, featuring such local luminaries as\u00a0<b>Royal Canoe<\/b>,\u00a0<b>Boats<\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<b>Cannon Bros<\/b>, with the second half hosted by Stylus Magazine. Also making an appearance is funkadelic styled singer from Toronto,\u00a0<b>Maylee Todd<\/b>. Finally, if you prefer the styles of indoor music, check out the\u00a0<b>Poorboy<\/b>\u00a0CD release show at the Cavern. Featuring\u00a0<b>Paincave<\/b>\u00a0and local noise rockers\u00a0<b>Surprise Party<\/b>, this show will fail to disappoint, especially for the cheap rate of only $7.<\/p>\n<p><em>So much to do, so little time.
