I found it to be a welcome break from the overwhelming synth pop trend. <i>Complete Surrender <\/i>maintains a nice balance between vintage throwbacks and contemporary grooves, blending subtle electronics with real instruments. Without intending to be too ironic, most of the release is a \u201ccomplete surrender\u201d to themes of heartbreak and break-ups \u2013 while there\u2019s some great upbeat stuff, there\u2019s quite a few slow-burners on this one including, \u201cNot Mine to Love,\u201d \u201cNumber One,\u201d and \u201cThe Queen\u2019s Nose.\u201d Favorites of mine are \u201cEverything is New,\u201d \u201cDependable People and Things that I\u2019m Sure of,\u201d and \u201cWanderer Wandering,\u201d tunes which deviate marginally from the overarching old-pop vibes. Slow Club is headed by Charles Watson and Rebecca Taylor of Sheffield, ENG. This is the band\u2019s third full-length release in a long line of EPs and singles.
