Little Dreams, more or less, is a laid back look at life as Ian Thomas’s generation knows it and remembers it being. Boomers will love it, the younger set won’t relate to it at all. After 40 years in music, Thomas is older, wiser, and content. Thomas confesses “I used to be a bit of a maniac control freak, but now I just delight in what other people bring to the party” and that is really the defining mood of the album, being comfortable in your own skin and with your place in the big picture. While not sounding dated or nostalgic, it is out of step with current music trends and would fit in with the late ‘70s California country-pop sound. To put it in a more modern context, if you like The Deep Dark Woods recent single, “Charlie’s (Is Coming Down),” you’ll more than likely enjoy Little Dreams. The album reunites Thomas with The Boomers bandmate, Peter Cardinali, and also features guest appearances by Kevin and Gary Breit, Molly Johnson and Lunch At Allen’s cohorts Marc Jordan and Murray McLauchlan. It won’t win many new fans, but existing fans will be thrilled with Thomas’s latest offering. (Alma, ianthomas.ca) Broose Tulloch
