Andria Simone – Good Lovin’

Andria-Simone-Good-Lovin

Toronto bred soul singer Andria Simone’s debut full-length album Good Lovin’ hits the mark in many ways. Simone’s powerful pipes show that she can truly belt a tune in any register. “Do What I Want” is without a doubt a the standout track on the album; it’s 60s R&B with a pop influence. Her voice is theatrical and robust, shown off particularly well in “Only a Thought.” “Only a Thought” is a standout on the album. Simone’s voice is strong, throaty and passionat. The lyrics are truly striking for a tune about a relationship ending and standing in the way of her ex’s new relationship. The album tells a story of a young woman gaining independence in the world and coming into her own. “Nothing Comes Easy” is an upbeat and highly danceable reminder that nothing worth having comes easily. “You’re No Good for Me” is about toxic relationships, and it’s followed by “Shame,” a sad ballad about the one that got away. While some of the songs are a little too poppy, numbers like “Good Lovin’,” “Trouble” and “Only a Thought” show that Simone is undeniably one to watch.
