Lots to see in & out of Winnipeg this weekend, folks! Check out our Weekenders suggestions.
Friday, September 14 – Sunday, September 16
I’ve already gone on at length about the Harvest Moon Festival in Clearwater, MB. But this is your last chance to ditch the city one more time and enjoy some homegrown music and food and late-summer Manitoba camping! The drive is just over two hours to the southwest of Winnipeg, via Highway 2 &/0r 3. With plenty of space for camping, large communal bonfires, plenty of good tunes and great workshops, this fest is a must for anyone who enjoys rural living and good old fashioned music. The price is right, too. While tickets are no longer sold here in the city, you can buy festival and camping passes at the front gates on site. A weekend pass will set you back $55, with $10 for camping. A day pass for Saturday is only $35. Get on it, friends. Winter is coming. – SB

Feeling nostalgic this weekend? Then it’s perfect timing to get your rockabilly on! King Cabarnet Events presents “Greased Lightning,” a ‘50s and ‘60s dance party with music from; you guessed it, King Cabarnet. Along with fantastic music, Rockabetty – a new ‘50s styled clothing store at 121b Osborne – will be showcasing their Rockabilly and Retro fashions for the pin-ups and the greasers. There will also be a guest appearance from WSO conductor, Alexander Mickelthwate. – SD
Come out, dress up, and get the feeling you’re living in the ‘50s! Come down to Juss Jazz (240 Portage Ave) this Saturday, September 15th. It’s $7 at the door, doors open at 9. The Rockabetty fashion show starts at 10 pm.
