50th Anniversary * 1963 - 2013
In the fall of 1963 student David Shilliday with the help of physics Professor Ron Riddell started the United College Radio System. Students could share music over the PA between classes and would sometimes tap into the CBC to share breaking news like the Kennedy assassination later that year.
Today we’ve launched our 50th anniversary logo designed by station volunteer Stu Reid. We will be celebrating the beginnings and history of CKUW all year long, so stay tuned for more special announcements and events.
