I first heard “If I was a Better Man” on CBC Radio 2 a few months ago, and that song is still stuck in my head. Cold Wind, the debut EP from British Columbia’s Joshua Hyslop, feels like walking through the park on a fall afternoon, moving forward but taking time to observe the beauty around. The tracks are a mixture of a promise and apology – I think that’s part of what makes this EP so enduring.
