Too much to do this weekend!!!
Friday June 22 – Sunday June 24
There is so much going on in Winnipeg this weekend, it is impossible to come up with a comprehensive list. We’ve got the Jazz Fest winding up, MEME Festival beginning (take a look here tomorrow for our feature on the festival). Bryan frickin’ Adams is in town on Friday! Shoot, the list really goes on and on. See you on the streets! – Sheldon Birnie
The Burning Kettles w/ Yes We Mystic & TWIN @ the Lo Pub – Friday June 22, 9 pm
I’m quite proud to be one of the few people who are able to say that they’ve been there since the beginning of the Burning Kettles. I’ve been able to witness the band evolve from a two-person project that emerged from the depths of high school, to what it is today: a thriving, exciting, and fascinating 6-person folk-pop experiment. While my earliest memories of Burning Kettles shows include ice cream shops and empty church altars, I’m excited to see the group take the Lo Pub this Friday. Playing with them will be fellow folkers Yes We Mystic, and Twin. In similar fashion to to Burning Kettles, Yes We Mystic and Twin are both taking folk as their own and in their own right, and having a good ol’ time all the ways long. This is the first show that the Burning Kettles have played in a while, and it is long overdue. I’m pretty pumped (if you couldn’t tell by my nostalgia-fest several lines earlier). Bring some friends, buy some beer, enjoy the show.
Doors open at 9, show starts sometime afterwards. 7$ – Victoria King
