What’s up around Winnipeg this weekend? Aren’t you glad you asked!Thursday October 11th

Thursdays are Draft Night at the old Windsor Hotel, presented by our pals over at Eat Em Up Records. Cheap draft beer, no cover charge, pure rock n roll. This week’s live entertainment is provided by Gourmet Scum, aka TJ Blair, Ida Sawabe & Daniel Pangman. Rock n roll will be on the turn tables between acts, and Repo Man will be on the big screen. Sounds pretty barry to me. Maybe I’ll see you there?

No cover! Music starts around 11pm! The Windsor is located over there at 187 Garry Street! Party on! -SB

Saturday October 13

As we all know, Winnipeg hasn’t been very lucky in the sports department these past couple of months, and I’m sure many fans out there are just hungry to watch something interesting. Well, this weekend is your chance. October 13th marks the second Winnipeg Roller Derby League Championship game, this year being between The Corporation and Valkyrie’s Wrath. What could be better than those old school roller skates you used to use at Wheelies, but involved in an intense contact sport? There will even be a half time game with the Junior Roller Derby League, a new addition to the league this year, which includes a team, made up of all youngsters (boys and girls).

Come check out the WRDL Championship game this Saturday, October 13th at the Convention Centre. Tickets are available at Ticketmaster for $15, but hurry! All summer series games ended up selling out, so it’s only a matter of time before this game does too! Doors open at 7, first whistle at 8. – SD
