Another great weekend of live music, Winnipeg!

Thursday, January 3st

Let’s celebrate the awesome, balmy -20’s weather by finally leaving our homes and going to check out some awesome folk-pop-indie-rock (whatever else you want to label it) music! Tonight at The Park Theatre, see three great Winnipeg folk rock bands beginning with Alanadale, a fuse of acoustic, electric, and synthetic harmonies. Following Alanadale will be Man the Selector, a folk trio who have a folk fest gig under their belt, and headlining the night will be The Burning Kettles, a 7 piece group blending the sounds of folk, indie, rock, and pop. It’s a great night to grab a drink, and sit down to enjoy what Winnipeg has to offer!

Doors open at 7:30, show starts promptly at 8:15 at The Park Theatre. Tickets are only $7 for 3 bands so that equals out to… $2.33 per band. You can’t possibly say no to such a great deal! SD

Saturday, February 2nd

Quirk-indie-pop outfit Boats are releasing their third album, “A Fairway Full of Miners” at the West End Cultural Centre on Saturday night.  This one is on Kill Rock Star again, and the night is filled with a ridiculous slew of musicians being crammed into 3 bands, all given 3 random cover songs to prepare in a week.  Should be hilarious.

Doors are at 7:15 PM at the West End Cultural Centre. Tickest are $12 in advance at Music Trader, and $17 at the door.DP
