Holy Macaroni! Tons o’FUN in the city again this Weekend! Can YOU handle it?
Thursday February 7, 2013
It’s time for us here at Stylus to celebrate the release of Vol 24, No 1! Our Feb/March 2013 edition hits the streets today, and we’ll be throwing a bash at the Rose N Bee Pub. Every Thursday at the ol’ RNB is Comedy Night, so if you’re into stand-up comedy gold, hit the bar early for some of Winnipeg’s best comedians! Afterwards, it’s a real Hillbilly Highway themed evening of boot stomping good tunes, courtesy of The Reverend Rambler and Carly Dow, along with a special “tweener” set by up & comer Cal Austin Jr. We’ll also be handing out fresh copies of the new mag, and giving away some special Stylus swag. Don’t miss it, folks!
The music starts at 11pm down at the Rose N Bee Pub, 61 Sherbrook. Admission is by donation (suggested $5, but anything above, beyond, or below is welcome, and all proceeds go towards keeping Stylus publishing in the community into the future). -SB

Get out your earplugs: Waster are playing a recording benefit show at the Windsor on Friday! Groove-metal from the pits of hell by some pretty hardworking chaps. The band hits the studio in two weeks for the follow-up to Prey For Us, their two song digital EP released on the Newform Label. Of course, it’s no secret that I love the post-hardcore now-five-piece Distances who are second on the bill. Honest guys playing honest music. Opening the night is Dead Ranch. Get your tickets, this thing will likely sell out.
I expect lots of sobriety.
Doors are at 9 PM at The Windsor, 187 Garry. Tickets are $8 in advance, available at Music Trader and through the bands. (On a related note, I would love for someone to explain to me the difference between a recording benefit show and a normal, for-profit show) –DP

HOLY SMOKES FOLKS.
Another year come and gone. Friends made, friends unfriended, the Mayans were wrong. There sure is lots to be thankful for!
SPEAKING OF THANKFUL, what better way to welcome the post-doomsday days than tuning in for CKUW’s annual FUNdrive and giving back to the station that keeps on giving all year round!?
And for this year’s FUNdrive, our kickoff show is revving things up in a BIG way. And when I say BIG, I mean like Tom Hanks’ “Big”. Like ‘Andre the Giant’ Big. Like 4561 episodes of ‘The Oprah Show’ big.
Yeah. BIG.
LIVE KAZOO PERFORMANCES FROM NO LABEL COLLECTIVE AND THE UNBELIEVABLE BARGAINS!!
