It sure feels like spring out there. Get out & enjoy some live music this weekend!

Friday, March 1, 2013

Holy Toledo! It’s March already? Whoa boy! The folks at the Harvest Moon Society are organizing a fun filled fundraiser of a coffeehouse at the First Unitarian Universalist Church on Wellington. The ever crafty Clearwaterians, and their friends, are planning to build a few guest cabins out in Clearwater to help the community of 68 deal with the influx of visitors they receive at the Harvest Moon Festival and other annual events.

According to the Harvest Moon Society,

“The cabins will also expand the capacity of the Harvest Moon Learning Centre, which offers year round programming including agricultural training, internships, alternative building workshops and ecological design courses.”

And so to help with the costs, they’re throwing this little party. Harvest Moon Festival favourites Ridley Bent, Andrina Turenne, T.j. Blair & Ida Sawabe (Magnificent 7s) will be performing. Tickets are only ten bucks! Get on it!

Tickets available at HMLFI booth at Growing Local conference. $10 only! The First Unitarian Universalist Church is at 603 Wellington Cres. Show starts at 7:00pm. -SB

Ismaila & the Xanad00ds – 10pm – Saturday night at the Cavern (112 Osborne St – below Toad in the Hole)

Saturday, March 2, 2013

The night opens with DJ Influence and the Xanad00ds backing Ismaila Alfa (Magnum K.I., and CBC radio host) on his solo material as well as a few songs from the Stax/Volt and Sam Cooke catalogues, and concludes with two full sets of original tunes from the Xanad00ds, a sharp modern rock quartet who you might recognize from other bands such as The Shouting Ground and The Mariachi Ghost.  ‘D00ds bassist Bruce Berven personally promised “lots of Can-con and dance-y covers thrown in for good times.”  All in all a great night of familiar and original music spanning several genres from a mob of top notch players.

This show goes down 10pm – Saturday night at the Cavern (112 Osborne St – below Toad in the Hole)BT
