It still ain’t spring here in Winnipeg, but the shows are pouring like it is. So hit the town & see some music!

Stylus is once again celebrating the publication of our latest edition at the Rose N Bee Pub tonight.

With the launch of the April/May edition, we’ve assembled a line-up of local up & comers that we’re sure will rock the Rose N Bee tonight after Open Mic Comedy, hosted by Mike Green. Kicking things off are Electric Soul, followed by Orilgins, and with Poorboy closing the night off. Should be a rager! Come on down!

Admission is free, but we will gladly accept donations. These Launch Parties are a way for Stylus to raise funds to keep the magazine afloat in these tough times for print media. And hey! If you donate, there will be prizes to be won! Party starts at 11pm, but show up early to see some of Winnipeg’s best comedians try out their new shit.

If you’re not into hitting up our party, well shit, there’s going to be a dose of super heavy going down at the Windsor, as KEN mode celebrate the release of their new LP. Sometimes being tied to a work commitment is a pain in the ass, but I’m happy I caught one of KEN mode’s sets down at SXSW. However, I’m choked I’ll be missing Black Tusk, Fight Amp, and Today’s the Day.

Doors open at 9pm, music starts at 9.30 with Fight Amp. Tickets may still be available at the door, or at Into The Music.

What was the first cassette tape you ever bought with your own money?

Mine was Keep the Faith by Bon Jovi, and I played the shit out of it.

I don’t know about any of you sons of guns, but I don’t care if Richie Sambora is gonna be there or not. I’m going to the MTS Centre to rock out to Bon Jovi. Fuckin’ eh.

Friday & Saturday, April 5 & 6, 2013

Then, once the house lights come up on the big hair at the MTS, I’ll be making a quick bee-line to the Times Change(d) to catch Corin Raymond & the Sundowners’ CD Release for Paper Nickels.

Paper Nickels is a project that we’ve highlighted here before at Stylus, and I think that any of the shows you can make it out to this weekend will be worth it.

The band is playing sets on Friday and Saturday night, with openers starting at 10.30pm. They’re also playing a dinner set Saturday, from 7pm to 9pm. Tickets are still available as of this writing, and go for 15$. Don’t miss out on this one, friends. -SB
