Such a grandiose vision; the multiple album. Many attempt but rarely is such a feat conquered. For instance, the Clash’s Sandinista, is considered a work of art by some, but also a failed attempt by others. Why make so broad and ambitious an album when one absolutely kick ass album resides within the monstrosity? Well, Soilwork had a go at it. The formula is unchanged through the majority of the listen, which some may find vexing, but Soilwork fans will go absolutely ape shit for this one. However, it is not to alienate fans from those new to Soilwork. The Living Infinite has so much to offer both parties. The first three tracks “”Spectrum of Eternity,” “Memories Confined,” and “This Momentary Bliss” are all damn catchy. After things sink in the rest of this double album seems to fall slightly flat. Things start to become redundant and well… boring. Making it through the entire album was a bit of a struggle, however, as I am not the biggest Soilwork fan. While I’m sure fans will eat this up, it’s just that everything impressive about the album, ultimately, becomes the downfall. Some songs jump out at you throughout the album, and I will commend them on the attempt, it is a bold move but a little diversity could have made this album far more memorable.
