Weekenders 10/04 – 10/07

Another busy weekend here in Winnipeg, Manitoba. What the heck are you up to?

Saturday, October 6

Hit up the Rose N Bee Pub on Sherbrook St for an evening of fun, curated by our pals at the No Label Collective. The main draw is, of course, JohNNy SiZZle’s CD release party for his new album Home Sweet Home. We’ve profiled JohNNy in the Oct/Nov edition of Stylus (which launches officially this same night), so look for that here on the web on Friday, or pick up your copy today to hear all about JohNNy’s journey through life up to and including the making of Home Sweet Home. Joining JohNNy this evening are fellow No Labelers Kato Destroy and the Manic Shakes (whose 7″ we also review in the latest Stylus). This is going to be a great evening, folks, so get on down to West Broadway and rip it up at the Rose N Bee.

Show starts at 10pm, and admission is 5$ at the door. -SB

Get ready Winnipeg, because another fantastic album release is on the way. This Saturday, Winnipeg’s The Girth will be releasing their very first self-titled full-length album with the help of the exotic psychedelic sounds of Mahogany Frog and the loud screaming vocals of The Bad Nerves. The Girth has also wedged their way onto CKUW’s Top 30 Albums chart at number 21, and Mahogany Frog is holding on to the number 2 spot with their recently released album Senna!

So come check out this killer line up at the Cavern (112 Osborne) this Saturday! Tickets are $5 at the door, doors open at 9, show at 10. They will have copies of their new album for $10 each. – SD
