The Creepshow

Holy Moses! There’s a ton of stuff going down here in Winnipeg this weekend!

Saturday November 3rd

Floor stompin’ folk fans rejoice! Edmonton’s Audio/Rocketry are playing Times Change(d) on Saturday night. Fronted by Joe Vickers’ voice and guitar, and filled out with Matt Murphy on bass and Blair Drover on banjo/mandolin, Audio/Rocketry have been writing traveling songs and playing them across the country for a handful of years now. Joined by Stonypoint Power Trio, this will hopefully be a raucous, whiskey filled evening to enjoy.

The show is at Times Change(d) (234 Main St.) at 10 PM DP

This Saturday it’s time to get creepy (yes Halloween is over… but that doesn’t mean anything), because the woman fronted, upright bass playing psychobilly band The Creepshow are coming back to Winnipeg! Local rockabilly groups The Angry Dragons and The Electrics will open the night, followed be Fundamentals, Hellbound Hepcats, and finally The Creepshow.

Now this show was originally slated to be at The Royal Albert, but unfortunately there’s still no released date as to when they’ll open… so the show has been moved to The Zoo (160 Osborne St). Tickets for the 5-band show are only $13 in advance at Music Trader, Into the Music, and online at www.ticketworkshop.com. So get your tickets, get down there, and boogie to some ‘50s styled rockabilly all night long. -SD

Ana Egge slides subdued country vocals over a heavier background of bass and slide guitar. French Press makes indie pop full of hooks and whimsy, grounded by thoughtful lyrics (bringing to mind Imaginary Cities). Spend and evening chilling out and hearing both of these singer-songwriters at the Park Theatre this Saturday evening.

Doors are at 7:30, show starts at 8pm at the Park Theatre (698 Osborne Street). Tickets are at Music Trader, ticketbreak.com and at the doors. -AY
