Los Straitjackets – Jet Set

YEP2268

Since 1988 Yankee twanglers Los Straitjackets have been making the world safe for instrumental trash, twang and thunder. With an obvious nod to the masters of the surf /tiki genre this combo has never shied away from the reverb effects pedal, lonely bass thump or cracking drum style of their forebears. “Jet Set” fits perfectly in their catalog of wonderful albums and if you have listened and loved before then you will understand intimately how three highly talented guitarists playing their hearts in homage to times gone by can sound when they are fully engaged. The album opens with a Munsters/Batman-themed rush to make you pay attention and from there expect a little bit of country twang, late night sun-setting-beyond-the-surf charmers and a whole lot of fun. This isn’t thinking person’s music by a long stretch, so saddle up that bar stool, pour yourself an extra large libation, take a fat Cohiba out of the humidor and turn up the music and get ready to treat your ears to a more than essential instrumental treat.
