Little Village, the second album from the Nova Scotia alt-country quintet named after an Australia wading bird, is quite enjoyable with decent vocals and harmonies, well-written songs, and solid musicianship, but ultimately unremarkable and nondescript. It seems odd to criticize an album for merely being very good, but while there is little to criticize, there is also nothing to champion on this disc. The complete and utter lack of anything even suggesting a personality leaves Banded Stilts very talented but as generic and bland as vanilla ice milk soft serve from a fast food mega-chain. It’s the record equivalent of “likes to play clarinet in spare time” as a high school yearbook quote. (bandedstilts.bandcamp.com) Broose Tulloch
