CKUW Puts the “Fun” in Fundraiser

Friends and supporters of local “campus and community” radio station CKUW (95.9 FM) came out to the Good Will Social Club on Thursday, March 30 to wrap up the annual pledge drive in support of keeping CKUW listener-driven and free of paid advertising. It was an intimate gathering and a great opportunity not only to support the continued work of CKUW and its in-house music magazine, Stylus Magazine, but for the staff and volunteers to celebrate that work.

EP Review :: Tinge :: Big Deep Sigh

In the song “Pennyroyal Tea,” Kurt Cobain once sang, “Give me a Leonard Cohen afterworld, so I can sigh eternally.” Not every artist possesses the ability to impel listeners to breathe deeply, but this is definitely the case with Tinge’s debut EP Big Deep Sigh. The project hearkens back to when Indie was more Punk than pretentious and when Emo was less of a post-goth fashion statement than an angst-ridden, authentic, and worthy successor to Grunge-era music.
