Freestyle V - The Radio Series
Freestyle:The Radio Series
Is a radio hip hop magazine. The theme this year is the universal nature of Hip Hop. It is the dominant culture in pop culture. A culture that organically started in New York in the mid seventies.
It has changed lives the world over and in our city of Winnipeg. So potent of a culture that we now do an annual week long festival at the University of Winnipeg. Some programming at schools and community centres are now focused around it. When did this happen?
We explore these questions and hip hop’s footprint with guests such as Cey Adams ( Founding Creative Dir of Def Jam), Jeff Chang (Author of Won’t Stop Don’t Stop), Sacha Jenkins (creator of the ground breaking mag Egotrip and Mass Appeal), Yy (Peanuts & corn), Winnipeg retailers The Urban Bakery, Winnipeg based dancer Loa Olafson, local graphic designer Al Lorde and many many many others. this plus our daily updates on the happenings at this years festival. Ness is the host. Lonnie Ce (Lytics, Grippin Grain) spins the tunes.
