Saturday on Mic Check

Posted by Robin on February 28th, 2007

Soweto Kinch is a young English saxophone player who has received a lot of praise for his work. With its touches of hip hop and rap mixed into the blowing jazz, his first CD in 2004, Conversations With The Unseen, was a preliminary to his latest, A Life In The Day of B 19, Tales of The Tower Block. This one combines narratives, hip hop, rap and jazz as it follows a storyline of a musician, a rapper and a poet, all of whom live in B 19. It’s brilliant and a real bridge between the genres represented.

Tune in to hear the whole CD between 4 and 6 on Saturday.
