  • Culture Days DIY DJ

    This past Friday, September 25th as part of the city-wide Culture Days celebration CKUW preempted regular programming and invited listeners to host half hour DJ sets between 5-9pm. With a little technical assistance from the staff, these DIY DJs shared some of their favourite selections with listeners.

    CKUW, Stylus and all our projects are funded largely by donations from our listeners and the community.

    You can donate to CKUW at any time of the year, all contributions are welcome! Donate online through our Fundrive page or contact our office to discuss your options. Fun incentives, including tax receipts are available all year long.

    Our major annual campaign is called Fundrive and happens every February, if you aren’t able to donate today please consider saving up and donating in 2016!

    It’s an exciting week here on campus with students returning and the halls abuzz with activity.

    U of W Students, please come by our office, say Hi and claim your free Friends of CKUW card. Simply present your student ID to Rob or Robin and you’ll get your own card good for discounts at nearby restaurants and shops.

    We also want to encourage everyone to tune in to 95.9 FM (online it’s listen.ckuw.ca ) check our Program Guide for show highlights or get involved as a volunteer

    Radio is fun and easy, try us out!

    DIY DJ kicks off our ‘Pass The Mic’ celebration, a full week of participatory radio. For ‘Pass The Mic’ CKUW hosts invite community members on-air to share their music ideas in a casual, conversational manner.

    Pass The Mic runs from September 25th – October 2nd, join in as we pass the mic… to you!

    CKUW was honoured once again at the annual Community Radio Awards this year in Saint John, New Brunswick hosted by Local 107.3 (CFMH -FM)
