  • At The Monarch’s Convenience

Posted by Rob on April 15th, 2008

At The Monarch’s Convenience, CKUW’s new weekly radio drama launches next Monday evening at 5:30pm.

The story revolves around the fictional Monarch’s Convenience Store. At the Monarch’s Convenience is a quilt of experience, drama and art, it is oral story telling, the passing on of history and the creation and re-discovery of the hero’s, myth’s and legends that are Winnipeg’s heart and soul.

The people who create At the Monarch’s Convenience are all volunteers and come directly from the neighbourhood. They come together with a shared love and commitment to the West End.

The drama is the ongoing project of CKUWs’ Artist in Community Residence, Jason Hooper.

“This is a different kind of experience! I’m excited to see how the community responds“says Hooper.
For more information about At The Monarch’s Convenience call CKUW radio at 786-9782, email Jason Hooper at [email protected] or check out the website http://radiodrama.ckuw.ca/.

The CKUW Artist in Residence program is made possible through the generous support of the Manitoba Arts Council and the City of Winnipeg through the Winnipeg Arts Council.
