    VINTAGE DRIVE-IN HORROR RADIO EXPERIENCE!

    Hear Intermission ads, cult movie trailers, and a triple feature of classic horror film soundtracks – full of freaks, gore, unstoppable killers, cannibal girls, hungry zombies, wanton violence, and sexy mayhem.

    Followed by a soundclash of 100 soundtracks to vintage monster movies and classic spooky radio dramas all night long.

    There will be giveaways during the first feature so tune in around 12:30 a.m. for your chance to win some classic horror cinema DVDs.

    Bike To The Future hosted a forum on cycling in Winnipeg. Moderated by Bartley Kives of freepressonstrike.com the forum featured representatives from the Winnipeg Police service, MPI, the city and Provincial governments. The discussion covered ideas and questions about making Winnipeg friendly for active transportation.

  • ‘Pass the Mic’ is coming!

During Pass the Mic, CKUW 95.9fm radio hosts will be inviting members of the community to participate as broadcasters, creating some truly unique radio programming.     Giselle Minns is an award winning composer, professional soprano, pianist and cellist. She has starred in many opera roles in both Canada and the Europe. Join John Iverson for a live via telephone interview with this Canadian soprano. She will be talking about her recently released debut album Turning Circles, which she categorizes as “Classicaltronica”.

    CKUW is proud to partner with Bike to the Future for a live broadcast of the panel discussion from the 2008 Annual Fall Forum: Why not Winnipeg?

    Panelists include:

    Kerri Irvin-Ross, Manitoba’s Minister of Healthy Living.

    Marilyn McLaren, CEO of Manitoba Public Insurance.

    Jenny Gerbasi, Chair of City Council’s Environment Committee.

    A high-ranking member of the Winnipeg Police Service.

    Janice Lukes, Winnipeg Trails Association Coordinator.

    It will be moderated by Bartley Kives, City Hall reporter for the Winnipeg Free Press. Together they will answer your questions about cycling infrastructure and issues in Winnipeg and Manitoba.
