  • Hit the Big Wide Strum, Kids!

    Aaron Burnett, will be live on-air next Tuesday, September 4th at 5pm. Aaron has 25 years of elementary education, sings and plays guitar and loves bluegrass music. He is a Juno Nominated children’s performer and band-mate of the former Keystone Bluegrass Quartet and Dry River Boys. We’ll be talking about the upcoming kids workshops he’s teaching at the Folk Exchange as well as what he’s got on the burner.

    It may not be Sunday but Antennas to Heaven is going to Church. Tune in on Tuesday (September 4th) from 6 to 8 a.m. to get down with the Lord and experience the spiritual revival as we express our love for good ol’ Gospel music. Amen.

  • Bye am a Scientist!

    All good things come to an end and I Am A Scientist! will be following suit Sunday, August 26th. Thanks to everyone in Winnipeg who tuned in to hear the show on CKUW 95.9 FM at noon or caught a show or two on iamascientist.net. It was a lot of fun (and work) to produce and I hope you all had just as much fun listening.

    The final show of I Am A Scientist! highlights the research Dr. Caroline Forbes, a geologist who now hails from the University of Adelaide in Australia.

    The National Campus/Community Radio Association hosts a yearly conference, and this year three delegates from CKUW trekked to Vancouver to attend. For the second year in a row, CKUW came home from the conference with a trophy for programming excellence.

    This year’s award goes to Daniel Brandt, co-host of Roots & beRRies Tuesdays from noon-1pm, for Best Focus Programming. The winning program highlighted the annual Dine & Dash fundraising event that L.I.T.E. holds every October.
