    Next week, venues all over Winnipeg will resonate with the return of Send + Receive: A Festival of Sound. Running this year from Tuesday, May 8 to Sunday, May 13, the ninth edition of the festival continues in the tradition it has established as a respected Canadian presenter of innovative, exploratory, and challenging new work by sound and media artists from Canada and beyond.

    Last night was CKUW’s 1st Annual Volunteer Radio Awards and 8th FM Birthday Celebration at the Winnipeg Press Club.

    The Awards were hosted by Matt Henderson, host of Testostertone, and pre- and post-awards beats were provided by Saturday’s Mic Check DJ, Sunny.

    It’s our 8th birthday!

    CKUW began at midnight April 30, 1999. Our first song was ‘Thats Entertainment’ by The Jam.

    A huge thank you to our volunteers, staff and you the dedicated listeners. We can’t do this without you, so here’s to another year of great FM radio!
