    Thank you for the support! We have received over $4,600 in pledges towards this years goal of $53,000. Your donations ensure that CKUW remains an independent voice in your community.

    This year we have changed the location for pledge payment and pick-up. Tim will be at the U of W Bookstore in the AnX building (formerly the downtown bus station) to take your donations. The bookstore is open 9:30 – 5 weekdays and 10-4 on weekends. Free parking for pledge pick up is available off of Colony or you can park at the meters on Balmoral.

    This year every paid pledge will receive a celebratory 50th anniversary kazoo while supplies last. Join us in making wonderful noise to celebrate 50 years of community radio at the University of Winnipeg!

  • Fundrive 2013 is underway

    We’ve kicked off our 2013 Fundrive campaign. Our goal is $53,000 by 6pm on Friday February 15th. You can donate online at fundrive.ckuw.ca or call our phone operators at 204-774-6877.

    We need every listener contributing to keep CKUW growing and on the air in Winnipeg. Stay tuned all week long for special programming and guests, one-of-a-kind live performances and amazing radio moments. As usual, donors can claim a Fundrive thank-you gift or tax receipt from the University of Winnipeg Foundation. Every paid pledge will receive a special 50th anniversary celebratory kazoo while supplies last.

    Donations can also be made in person at the U of W bookstore in the AnX building (formerly the downtown bus station). We can’t do this without you, help power our tower and pledge to CKUW!

  • Fundrive arrives on Friday

    February 8th – 15th is the annual CKUW Fundrive: an on-air pledge campaign celebrating community radio with a week of special programming.

    Starting Friday at 1pm, listeners will be encouraged to call 204-774-6877 and pledge their support for listener driven radio.

    In addition to the good feeling of supporting democratic media, many donors will be thanked with special CKUW Fundrive T-shirts, toques and the fabulous CKUW Friends card, useful for discounts at many local businesses. As 2013 marks the 50th anniversary of our founding we are giving away 50th anniversary kazoos for donors to make noise in celebration!

    Fundrive 2013’s exclusive T-Shirts feature a unique gramophone design by local designer Andrew Mazurak.

  • 50th Anniversary * 1963 - 2013

    In the fall of 1963 student David Shilliday with the help of physics Professor Ron Riddell started the United College Radio System. Students could share music over the PA between classes and would sometimes tap into the CBC to share breaking news like the Kennedy assassination later that year.

    Today we’ve launched our 50th anniversary logo designed by station volunteer Stu Reid. We will be celebrating the beginnings and history of CKUW all year long, so stay tuned for more special announcements and events.     The 2013 pledge drive begins on Friday February 8th at 1pm. A significant portion of our annual budget comes from contributions by radio enthusiasts like you and Fundrive is the time of year when we campaign for your support. Our goal this year is $53,000.
