Well, friends, it’s that time of year again. Holiday sweaters are taken out of the back of closets, spiced rum is liberally added to egg nog, and holiday staff get together’s go from mildly boring to extremely socially awkward faster than you can say “Dasher-Dancer-Prancer-Vixen.”
It’s also time for local fella JP Hoe’s Hoe Hoe Holiday Show(s)!!! Stretching an incredible three nights at the Park Theatre, this annual event is sure to hit all the right holiday-themed spots for all you folky-pop persons.

Winnipeg’s multi-venue indie fest Big Fun, the Heart of the Continent’s answer to Cowtown’s Sled Island, might not be going down for another month, but the fun starts this Saturday with a festival launch/fundraiser at the Windsor. Local heroes This Hisses, who are releasing a new album early in 2013, and Departures, who’s album will likely be gracing some Top 10 lists near you soon, are providing the jams. So get ye to the Windsor on Saturday and have some Big Fun!
The party starts at 10:00pm, and the cost at the door is a mere $5. DJ sets from DJs Brandon, Olivia, and JP will keep the rock rolling between bands. -SB
