If you haven’t been down to check out the Rose N Bee’s open mic comedy night yet, do yourself a favour & head there tonight. Every Thursday, from 9:00pm to 10:30pm, a pile of Winnipeg’s best comedians sign up to strut their stuff on the stage. Hosted by Mike Green, you never really know what you’re going to get or who will be performing. Regulars include the likes of Jared Story, Paul Rabliauskas, Chantal Marostica, and many, many more. Watch them absolutely slay or bomb miserably; either way, it’s a great time for a laugh.
Laughs start at 9, and if you’re interested in signing up to perform, show up a little earlier. Rose N Bee’s at 61 Sherbrook. Admission is free, and there’s always music afterwards. -SB

Ce week-end est important pour la scène punk rock à Winnipeg! Les Sexy is releasing their second album Polychrome, and they’re getting a very special guest to help. Not only will it be a night filled with tons of bearded men and French goodness, but Montreal’s Bloodshot Bill will open the set with a new album as well titled So Blue! Don’t know a word of French (except for maybe “est-ce que je peux aller au toilète”)? That’s no reason not to head down. Come down for fantastic tunes and who knows, maybe you’ll learn a new word or something.
Be sure to check out the Les Sexy Polychrome release party this Friday, January 18th at the West End Cultural Centre. Tickets are still available in advance at Music Trader, Into the Music, or Ticket Master for $15, or pick up your tickets at the door for $20. Doors open at 7, tunes start at 8.
